Faulty manifold absolute pressure sensor
The sensor reading pressure in the inlet manifold, which is how the module infers engine load. It reports absolute pressure, so a low reading means high vacuum — a distinction that reverses the meaning of the number and catches people out. Its port blocks with carbon more often than the sensor fails.
Typically an easy fix. Often worth checking before paying anyone to look.
