Cause
Short circuit in a transmission solenoid
A solenoid winding shorted internally, which loads the module's driver rather than simply not responding. Left in place it can take the driver stage with it, turning a solenoid job into a module job — so a shorted winding is the one transmission electrical fault worth not driving on.
Typically a moderate job.
