Worn accelerator pedal assembly
Wear in the pedal's own sensors or return mechanism. The two position signals are compared against each other, so wear in one track makes them disagree and the vehicle drops into reduced power — usually at a particular pedal position rather than throughout, which is the tell.
Typically an easy fix. Often worth checking before paying anyone to look.
