P02CE: Cylinder 2 Fuel Injector A Offset Learning At Min Limit
What to do
Ask whether the injector calibration codes match the cylinders they are actually fitted to. If injectors have been out for any reason, two of them swapped over produces exactly this kind of fault — and it is corrected with a laptop rather than with parts.
Check the engine oil level and smell it. Over-delivery washes diesel past the rings into the sump, and oil above maximum or smelling strongly of fuel is urgent rather than a curiosity.
Ask what the other cylinders' trims look like. If they are all drifting the same way the problem is shared — fuel pressure or fuel quality — and no injector needs replacing at all.
Do not delay. The module ran out of adjustment, so this has been developing quietly for some time.
What this code means
The correction the module applies to cylinder 2's injector has reached the bottom of its adjustment range.
The module trims each injector individually to equalise delivery, and this says cylinder 2's trim has run out at the bottom — it has been reduced as far as permitted and the cylinder is still delivering more than its share.
Where more than one cylinder shows an offset code, the pattern is more informative than any single one of them, and it is worth reading before anything is removed.
- One cylinder at a limit points at that injector.
- All cylinders drifting the same way points at something shared — rail pressure, the pressure sensor, or fuel quality. The injectors may be fine and the reference wrong.
- Two cylinders at opposite limits is the signature of injectors swapped between cylinders, where each is now running the other's calibration code. That is a coding fix rather than a parts job.
That third case is worth checking specifically after any injector work. It is easy to do, produces dramatic-looking codes, and costs nothing to correct once identified.
Over-delivery on one cylinder has its own consequence: unburnt fuel washes the cylinder wall and drains into the sump, so check the oil level and condition — a level that has risen, or oil that smells of diesel, is a genuine finding rather than an aside.
