P0549: Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Circuit High — Bank 2 Sensor 1
What to do
With a burning smell or visible smoke, stop and have it inspected. Otherwise more likely to be the sensor or its wiring.
What this code means
The bank 2 exhaust gas temperature signal is above its plausible range — the counterpart of P0546. As on bank 1, exclude a genuine over-temperature before treating this as a sensor fault; a runaway regeneration or a badly over-fuelling injector produces real temperatures that will damage the turbocharger and filter.
