P0648: Immobiliser Lamp Control Circuit
What to do
Driveable. Worth repairing because that lamp is the quickest indication of an immobiliser problem, and without it a future non-start becomes harder to explain.
What this code means
A fault in the circuit driving the immobiliser warning lamp. The lamp normally flashes when the vehicle is secured and extinguishes when a valid key is recognised, so it is the only visible indication of whether the immobiliser is satisfied.
Losing it does not disable the immobiliser, but it removes the one clue that separates an immobiliser no-start from a fuel or spark one — which makes a future no-start harder to diagnose than it needed to be.
