What to do
Driveable. Expect the engine to feel flat either low down or at higher revs. Worth attending to rather than ignoring — on some engines these flaps can break away and be drawn into the cylinders, which is a very expensive outcome from a cheap fault.
What this code means
A circuit fault on the intake manifold tuning valve for bank 1. Variable-geometry intake manifolds change their effective runner length as engine speed rises: long runners suit low-speed torque, short ones suit high-speed power, and a flap or valve switches between them.
The symptom is therefore a torque curve with a hole in it rather than an outright failure — the engine pulls normally at one end of the rev range and feels flat at the other, depending on which position the valve is stuck in. That is easy to dismiss as normal for the car, especially by someone unfamiliar with it.
Carbon is the usual mechanism, seizing the flaps or their linkage. On some engines those flaps can break loose and be drawn into the engine, which is a far more serious outcome and a reason not to leave the fault indefinitely.
