P0732: Gear 2 Incorrect Ratio
What to do
Slipping or flaring on the 1–2 or 2–3 change is what this usually feels like. Note carefully whether any other gear misbehaves — which gears fail together tells a specialist which part is at fault before the gearbox is opened.
What this code means
The measured ratio in second gear is wrong. Second is where a great many automatics do most of their work in traffic, so wear concentrates there, and a fault confined to second is common enough to be unremarkable.
What is worth noting is the combination: second failing alongside a specific other gear rather than alongside all of them. Planetary gearsets apply the same clutches and bands in different combinations for different ratios, so a single failed element takes out a characteristic pattern of gears. Recording which gears are affected and which are not narrows an internal diagnosis to one element, and it is the difference between an informed repair and an exploratory one.
