P0752: Shift Solenoid A Stuck On
What to do
Expect certain gears to be missing. Note which ones work; that pattern is the most useful information you can give a workshop, and it costs nothing to observe on the way there.
What this code means
Shift solenoid A is applied when it should have released, so the gears that require it to be off are unavailable. The transmission is not broken so much as stuck partway through its own logic, and the gears it can still reach are the ones whose combination happens to include this solenoid being on.
The mirror image of P0751, and diagnosed the same way: which gears remain identifies the fault. A solenoid held on mechanically — by debris, or a valve seized in its bore — is far more common than one held on electrically, which is why the fluid and the pan are again the first place to look rather than the wiring.
