P0751: Shift Solenoid A Performance or Stuck Off
What to do
The transmission will skip or refuse certain gears. Ask for the fluid and filter to be changed and the pan inspected before a solenoid is condemned — debris causes this often enough to be worth trying, and the state of the pan is informative either way.
What this code means
Shift solenoid A is electrically sound but not doing its hydraulic job — commanded on and not moving, or moving too slowly to apply the clutch cleanly. The gears that depend on it are unavailable, and the transmission works around the gap.
Debris is the usual cause and the most encouraging one. Shift solenoids have small internal clearances and a fine mesh screen, and a fragment of clutch friction material or a flake of metal is enough to hold the valve off its seat. Dropping the pan for a fluid and filter service clears a genuine proportion of "stuck" solenoid faults — and if it does not, what is found in the pan tells you a great deal about whether the transmission has a bigger problem behind it.

Information, not instruction
CarGeek is a reference, not a service manual. Its pages are written from public sources and from what other people have found, never from a manufacturer's own service information, so they can be wrong or incomplete for your particular vehicle. Some of what they describe carries real risk: high voltage, fuel under pressure, stored energy, hot and moving parts.
Have anything you intend to act on checked by a trained person against the manufacturer's own procedure for your vehicle. Nothing here replaces that procedure.

Nothing posted about this yet. Whatever you found is worth writing down — even a dead end saves someone the same afternoon.
What makes one worth reading:
- The car — make, model, year and engine. The same fault behaves differently on each.
- What you measured, not only what you replaced.
- What actually fixed it — or that nothing did, which is worth knowing too.
