P0825: Gear Lever Push-Pull Switch — Shift Anticipate
What to do
Gear selection may feel slightly less immediate than before. Nothing is at risk and it can wait; the transmission is doing the same work, just without the head start this switch was giving it.
What this code means
A fault in the switch that detects the driver beginning to move the gear lever, before the movement is complete. Its purpose is anticipation: knowing a shift is about to be requested lets the transmission pre-charge the clutch that will be needed, so engagement happens the instant the lever arrives rather than after the hydraulics have caught up.
Losing it costs that head start and nothing else. Engagement still happens, just with the small delay the pre-charge was hiding — noticeable to an attentive driver as a selector that feels less immediate than it used to, and invisible to most.

Information, not instruction
CarGeek is a reference, not a service manual. Its pages are written from public sources and from what other people have found, never from a manufacturer's own service information, so they can be wrong or incomplete for your particular vehicle. Some of what they describe carries real risk: high voltage, fuel under pressure, stored energy, hot and moving parts.
Have anything you intend to act on checked by a trained person against the manufacturer's own procedure for your vehicle. Nothing here replaces that procedure.

Nothing posted about this yet. Whatever you found is worth writing down — even a dead end saves someone the same afternoon.
What makes one worth reading:
- The car — make, model, year and engine. The same fault behaves differently on each.
- What you measured, not only what you replaced.
- What actually fixed it — or that nothing did, which is worth knowing too.
