P0931: Gear Shift Lock Solenoid/Actuator Control Circuit A High
What to do
The selector will not come out of park. Find the shift-lock release — a small covered slot beside the selector on most vehicles — rather than forcing the lever, which will not work and can break the assembly. Then have the wiring and fuse checked as well as the solenoid.
What this code means
The shift lock solenoid circuit reads above its valid range — an open circuit or a short to supply, which generally leaves the solenoid unable to energise and the lock permanently engaged.
This is the failure that strands people: the selector will not leave park however hard it is pushed, and on a shift-by-wire selector there is no cable to force, so pushing harder achieves nothing except damage. The manual shift-lock release is the way out.
