P0951: Auto Shift Manual Control Circuit Range/Performance
What to do
Manual mode may act on requests you did not make, or ignore ones you did. Corrosion in a connector is a more likely cause than a failed paddle.
What this code means
The manual shift control is producing a signal that does not correspond to a valid request — most often a resistance that has drifted between the bands used to encode upshift, downshift and neither. Corrosion adding resistance to the circuit produces exactly that, which is why phantom shift requests and ignored ones are the same underlying fault.
