What to do
An abrupt loss of electric drive with this code is usually the protection reacting to a false reading, not a real overcurrent — worth saying to the workshop, and worth not panicking over on the roadside.
What this code means
The drive motor's current sensor circuit reads at the top of its range — shorted to a supply, or open where the circuit rests high.
The mirror of P0A53 with one caution attached: a reading stuck at maximum looks to the module like a massive overcurrent, and some vehicles respond with an immediate, hard shutdown of the motor. A car that cut its electric drive abruptly and stores this code has most likely suffered a wiring failure impersonating an emergency.
