What to do

Expect no air conditioning, and no cabin heating on a heat-pump car. The car drives normally. If a scan lists several of these with numbers that look unrelated, they may well be one family — the standard allocated them out of order.

What this code means

The circuit for the sensor measuring phase V of the air conditioning compressor motor is faulty.

These are the instruments for the three phase currents, where P0D7A to P0D7F were the readings — the same instrument-versus-reading split the corpus draws at P0A51 against P0A5D.

The three currents must sum to zero at every instant, which lets the module audit its own sensors against arithmetic with no reference value at all. That identity is described at P0DFA and it is the fourth place the corpus meets it.

One phase's sensor unreachable breaks the audit for all three, because the sum can no longer be computed — so a single sensor circuit fault costs the compressor its self-check as well as one measurement.

This family is allocated out of sequence, and it is the most scrambled layout in the corpus. The standard put Phase V's Circuit High, Circuit Low and Range/Performance at P0EB5–P0EB7 and Phase W's at P0EB8–P0EBA — then allocated their base Circuit codes afterwards, at P0EBB and P0EC0, with the refrigerant temperature sensor family sitting between them. Phase U is the only one of the three whose four codes are contiguous. Both out-of-sequence codes were fetched and confirmed rather than inferred; nothing about the numbering is predictable here.
