What to do
Ask what is making the soot rather than accepting the regenerations as the fault — injectors, EGR and the air filter are the producers list, the pressure hoses the false-alarm list, and both are cheaper than the filter this eventually costs.
What this code means
Regenerations are happening too often — each one completing, but the filter refilling faster than it should.
Frequency is a symptom of another disease. A filter loads quickly for one of two reasons: the engine is making too much soot (tired injectors over-fuelling, an EGR valve stuck open richening the burn, a choked air filter), or the module believes it is loading fast because the pressure sensing lies (P2452's hose stories). The regenerations themselves are the system working correctly on bad inputs — so treating this code by suppressing regenerations treats the thermometer for the fever.
The felt version is fuel economy sliding and the occasional hot-smell regeneration cycle arriving weekly instead of monthly.
