What to do

Expect the range or charge display to be unreliable, and do not plan a journey on it until this is fixed. The battery itself may be perfectly healthy — it is the accounting that is wrong, so the car can show more charge than it really has.

Expect charging to be slower or limited. That is the vehicle being cautious with a measurement it cannot trust.

Mention any recent work involving the high-voltage battery or its wiring, since these sensors sit in that circuit.

Do not attempt to inspect this yourself. These sensors are in the high-voltage circuit, which requires a technician with specific training and equipment — this is one of the few areas where that genuinely matters.

What this code means

The third battery pack current sensor is reporting a value that is electrically valid but not credible.

Current measurement is how a traction battery's state of charge is known, and understanding that explains why a sensor fault is treated so seriously. There is no way to measure charge directly. The module counts it — integrating current in and out over time, corrected for temperature and the pack's known characteristics. Every error in the current reading accumulates into the state-of-charge figure and never corrects itself until the pack reaches a known point.

Which is why several sensors are fitted. A pack draws a few amps on standby and several hundred under acceleration or rapid charging, and no single sensor is accurate across that whole span — so a high-range and a low-range sensor are used together, each accurate where it matters. A third sensor is redundancy, a separate range, or a per-branch measurement on a pack with parallel strings.

Range/performance means the sensors disagree in a way they should not. The decisive check is at rest: with the vehicle asleep and nothing drawing, every current sensor must read essentially zero. One that reports a current at that moment has identified itself, and no road test is needed.

The consequence a driver notices is the range display drifting — a car that shows more charge than it has, or shuts down earlier than expected. The pack is fine; the accounting is wrong.

Expect charging to be limited while the module cannot trust its own measurement.
