Auxiliary Drive Belt
Drives the alternator, power steering pump, air conditioning compressor and water pump from the crankshaft. A slipping belt produces charging voltage that rises and falls with engine load, which reads as unstable system voltage rather than as a belt problem — and it is usually audible as a squeal on a cold start or under load, which is the quickest confirmation available.
