C0085: Lampje voor uitgeschakelde tractiecontrole
Wat te doen
The car drives and brakes normally. The concern is that the car may not be able to warn you about a real fault, so do not read a dark warning light as proof the system is working. Worth fixing for that reason alone.
Wat deze code betekent
The circuit for the traction disable indicator has a fault.
A warning lamp fault matters here for the same reason it does in the restraint system: the lamp is how the car tells you the safety system has switched itself off.
These systems give no feedback in normal driving. ABS does nothing until you brake hard on a poor surface, and stability control does nothing until the car begins to slide. So a driver cannot tell a working system from a disabled one — except by the lamp.
Which is why the module monitors its own indicator, and why the bulb check at every start is not decoration: it proves the lamp can light. A car whose ABS lamp never comes on at all is more suspicious than one where it stays on, and worth watching for on any used vehicle.
This lamp says traction control is switched off, and its failure is the one here that can mislead in a dangerous direction: a driver who believes the system is on when it is off gets no help at the moment they expect it.
