Wat te doen
Find this car's manual fuel door release before you run low on fuel. It is normally a small cable, loop or lever inside the boot behind a trim panel, and the handbook will show it. That is the immediate priority — everything else can wait, running out of fuel cannot.
Try unlocking the car fully first, and make sure it is stationary. The filler door is locked with the doors and will not open while moving.
If this is a plug-in hybrid or a modern petrol with a sealed tank, press the release and wait. The tank has to vent before the door will open, and that can take several seconds — many reported faults are simply not waiting long enough.
In freezing weather, suspect ice in the latch. Warm water round the door often frees it and needs no repair.

This is the half of the pair that strands people, and it is worth being blunt about that: a car that cannot be refuelled is a car with a finite range.
Before assuming a fault, know that several deliberate conditions hold this door shut. It is locked with the doors, so a central locking fault keeps it closed; it will not open above walking pace; and on a vehicle with a sealed fuel tank — most plug-in hybrids and some modern petrols — it will not open until the tank has been vented, which takes several seconds and sometimes longer with a full warm tank. A driver pressing the release once and giving up may simply not have waited.
So a pressurised-tank vehicle showing this code alongside evaporative system faults is very likely one problem: the tank cannot vent, so the door is correctly refusing to open. Fixing the venting fixes the door.
