Toyota Solara
The Camry's coupé and convertible, and for anything under the skin it is a Camry — the same 5S-FE, 1MZ-FE, 2AZ-FE and 3MZ-FE engines, the same automatics, the same electronics of the year. Camry material therefore covers the powertrain almost completely, and there is a great deal more of it. What is genuinely the Solara's own is the convertible roof: a hydraulic and electrical assembly with its own limit switches and its own module, and the source of a large share of what these cars come in for. A roof that stops mid-cycle is not a body complaint to be diagnosed by eye — it reports faults like anything else.
