Infiniti QX50
The name covers two mechanically opposite cars. To 2017 the QX50 is the renamed EX35 and EX37: rear-drive-based, longitudinal VQ V6, and diagnostically an Infiniti G-series with a different body — so G37 and 370Z information applies. From 2019 it is transverse, front-drive-based and carries the VC-Turbo, the production variable-compression engine, which is the reason to read the year first. That engine has a multilink mechanism and an electric actuator that continuously changes the compression ratio, with its own position sensor and control strategy, so it can set faults no other four-cylinder can — and a compression test on it does not mean what it means elsewhere. The CVT behind it is a Jatco unit with the usual fluid-temperature sensitivity.
