Scion iM
A five-door hatchback that is the European Toyota Auris sold in North America, and became the Corolla iM when the Scion brand closed — the same car under three names, which is worth knowing because the service history is scattered across all of them. The 2ZR-FAE engine uses Valvematic, Toyota's continuously variable intake lift, and that is the one genuinely unusual thing about it: a Valvematic actuator or its position sensor produces a rough idle and a power complaint with no misfire, and it needs an initialisation procedure after any work on it. The CVT behind it is Toyota's own K313 and is otherwise conventional.
