Faulty accelerator pedal position sensor
The sensor pair telling the engine how far the pedal has been pressed. Two independent signals exist so they can be cross-checked, and a disagreement drops the vehicle into reduced power rather than trusting either one.
A wet footwell is a common cause, because the connector sits at floor level.
Typically an easy fix. Often worth checking before paying anyone to look.
