Three sensors change the logic in a way worth understanding. With two, a disagreement tells the module that one of them is wrong but not which, so it must distrust both. With three, the odd one out can be identified and the remaining pair kept — which is why vehicles carrying a third sensor often keep running with reduced power where a two-sensor vehicle would force idle. The extra sensor buys graceful degradation rather than merely detection.
