Faulty receiving module input
The input stage of the module reading a signal, rather than the sensor sending it. The distinguishing evidence is that the signal is good at the module's own connector and wrong inside it — which takes a measurement at the plug and is the only thing that separates this from a sensor fault.
Typically specialist work. Needs equipment or training most home workshops do not have.
