Cause
Faulty reductant injector
The injector metering diesel exhaust fluid into the exhaust. It crystallises rather than wearing out — the fluid dries to a solid deposit around the tip — so blockage is far more common than electrical failure, and the consequence is legal rather than mechanical: the vehicle drives normally while an emissions countdown runs toward a speed limit or a no-restart.
Typically specialist work. Needs equipment or training most home workshops do not have.
