P2214: NOx Sensor Circuit Range/Performance Bank 2
What to do
Have the reductant level and quality, the dosing system and the EGR checked before this is treated as a failed sensor — all of them cause genuinely high NOx, and all will do it again with a new sensor fitted. Ask for the two banks' readings to be compared; that is free and narrows it considerably.
What this code means
The bank 2 NOx sensor is reporting a figure the module will not accept. The essential caution is at P2201 and is worth repeating in one line, because it is the expensive mistake in this family: a sensor accurately reporting that too much NOx is leaving the vehicle produces the same code as a sensor that has drifted. Check that the reduction system has something to convert and is converting it before concluding the sensor is at fault.
Where only one bank reports this, the bank comparison described at P2213 does real work: the healthy bank establishes what the engine is actually producing, which makes it possible to say whether this bank's figure is implausible or merely unwelcome.
