P06DD: Engine Oil Pressure Control Circuit Performance/Stuck Off

Stop driving the vehicle. This fault means the engine may not be getting the oil pressure it needs, and an engine run without proper oil pressure can be destroyed in seconds — not miles. Recovery to a garage is far cheaper than an engine.
Check the oil level yourself right now. Low oil is a genuine cause of this and it is free to correct — though if the level is very low, ask why before running the engine again.
Ask for oil pressure to be measured with a mechanical gauge, not just read from the diagnostic tool. This code says the control and sensing path cannot be trusted, so a reading from that same path proves nothing.
Mention when the oil was last changed and with what grade. Degraded or wrong-viscosity oil prevents these pumps reaching pressure and is a common, inexpensive cause.
What this code means
Oil pressure control is stuck in the off position, and the engine is not getting the pressure it asks for.
This is the most serious code in this block, and the reason is simple: an engine without oil pressure destroys itself in seconds rather than miles. Bearings, camshafts, chain tensioners and turbocharger shafts all rely on a pressurised film that is measured in microns. Losing it does not cause gradual wear; it causes metal-to-metal contact immediately.
Stuck off means the control has failed in the low-pressure state — which on a variable-displacement pump is the state intended for idle and light load only. The engine may be running its bearings at idle pressure while under full load.
Treat this as a stop-driving fault until oil pressure has been physically measured with a mechanical gauge. Not read from the module — measured. The whole point of this code is that the control path is untrustworthy, and the sensor sits in that same path.
Before assuming the worst, check the simple things, because they cause this and they are free. Low oil level, the wrong viscosity, or oil long overdue a change all prevent a variable pump reaching commanded pressure. A blocked pickup strainer does the same and is a known consequence of extended oil changes.
A stuck solenoid is often varnish rather than electrical failure, and that too comes from degraded oil.
Where the pump itself is worn, replacement is the honest answer — and it is far cheaper than the engine it protects.
