P0A22: Generator Torque Sensor Circuit
What to do
Symptoms here concentrate on engine starting and charging rather than on how the car pulls. Same caution as the motor family: wiring first, and no orange-cable work outside a hybrid-qualified workshop.
What this code means
The circuit reporting the generator's torque has failed its plausibility checks.
This is the generator's copy of the motor torque family at P0A17, and the same two arguments carry over whole: torque is cross-checked because unverified torque is a safety question, and on most vehicles the value is computed from current and rotor position rather than measured by a discrete sensor.
What is different is the machine's job. In a full hybrid the generator starts the engine, generates charge, and — in an eCVT transaxle — reacts torque so the ratio between engine and wheels can vary. A torque fault on this machine therefore tends to show up around engine starting and battery charging rather than in acceleration: laboured or failed engine starts, a charge level that sags, an engine that races oddly against road speed.
