Expect a flat, ordinary-feeling engine rather than drama — base timing is the designed fallback. The solenoid's winding resistance is a seconds-long test that sorts most of these; ask for it before parts.

What this code means

The intake camshaft actuator's control circuit reads low — the solenoid's line shorted to ground or open, so the valve that phases the camshaft cannot be driven.

Low is the forgiving direction, and knowing why organises the whole family. These actuators are built to fail safe: no current means the oil control valve springs back and the camshaft returns to its base timing, held there by a locking pin. So a dead control line gives an engine that starts, idles and drives — flat, thirstier, sometimes with the brief rattle of an unlocked phaser at start-up — but fundamentally well-behaved. The High variants at P2089 are the direction with teeth.

The circuit suspects are ordinary: the solenoid's own winding (measurable in seconds), the harness, and the connector. The corpus's timing family at P0010–P0025 carries the mechanism; this family is purely its wiring.
