Corroded accelerator pedal connector
The pedal's connector sits at floor level, which makes it the first casualty of a wet carpet. A leaking screen seal, heater matrix or blocked bulkhead drain is the usual cause, so a damp footwell is worth more than any meter reading here — and it explains why the fault often arrives with the rainy season.
