P2286: Injector Control Pressure Sensor Circuit High
What to do
Expect rough running or hard starting. If any work has recently been done on top of the engine, ask for the sensor connector to be checked first — it is easily left unplugged and gives exactly this code.
What this code means
The injection control pressure sensor circuit reads above its valid range — an open circuit, a disconnected sensor, or a short to supply.
An open circuit is what a disconnected sensor looks like, and this one sits on top of the engine where it is disturbed by any work in the valley or on the oil rail. A code appearing after such work deserves a physical check before anything is tested.
Where the circuit is intact, a sensor reporting a pressure far higher than the system can produce is failing rather than reporting — the genuine over-pressure condition is at P2288 and is a different code precisely because the module can tell the two apart.
