P2287: Injector Control Pressure Sensor Circuit Intermittent
What to do
Expect intermittent rough running or occasional hard starting. Note whether it tracks engine temperature or particular conditions. Ask for the connector to be opened and inspected for oil rather than the sensor replaced on suspicion — oil in the plug causes this, and a new sensor plugged into the same oily connector behaves the same way.
What this code means
The injection control pressure reading jumps or drops out rather than changing smoothly.
Hydraulic pressure in this circuit does change quickly by nature, so the module allows for genuine movement — what it catches here is change no hydraulic system could produce. That points at the connection, and on this sensor the connection has a specific enemy: oil creeping into it, which bridges terminals intermittently as it moves and as temperature changes. A fault that comes and goes with engine temperature, on a sensor whose plug has oil in it, is that story rather than a coincidence.
The symptom follows the fault — running that is fine for a while and then rough, or a start that succeeds nine times and fails the tenth — which is exactly the pattern that gets a good sensor replaced twice.
