P2554: Throttle/Fuel Inhibit A Circuit Low
What to do
The car will most likely crank and not start. Check the inertia or crash cut-off switch first if the vehicle has one — it is free and it is the commonest answer after any sort of impact. Beyond that, this is an anti-theft and wiring matter rather than a fuel system one, so hold off on a fuel pump or injectors however plausible they sound.
What this code means
The inhibit circuit reads below its valid range — usually a short to ground, which on most designs is the asserted state.
A permanently asserted inhibit is a car that cranks and will not run, with no fuel and no spark on an engine that is perfectly healthy. The mechanism, and the free inertia switch check that should come before anything is bought, are at P2552.
Where the wiring tests sound, the immobiliser or an aftermarket installation spliced into the same circuit is the next place to look.
