Expect flare, judder or a lurch at some shifts while a pressure curve is wrong — and every one of those events is wear the clutch was not designed to absorb. Check the fluid where the design allows it, and have the pressures read on a scan tool rather than replacing parts on feel.
What this code means
Clutch A is engaging too fast.
The module times every clutch event to the millisecond, and these codes are its stopwatch complaining. Engagement measured too slow is a clutch arriving late under torque — slip, heat, flare at the handover. Too fast is a clutch grabbing — the shift bangs, the driveline thumps, and the passengers notice. Disengagement has the same pair in mirror: slow release means two clutches briefly fight; instant release breaks drive with a jerk.
Timing faults are usually pressure faults wearing a disguise. The clutch moves when fluid moves it, so a curve arriving late points at delivery — a tired pump, a leaking seal, fluid past its best — before it points at the plates. The other regular culprit is calibration: a clutch or actuator changed without its teach-in engages on the old clutch's learned points, and the timing is wrong from the first shift.
Adaptation hides this fault until it cannot. The module continuously trims its timing to the clutch it has, so early wear is absorbed silently — by the time the stopwatch code sets, the trim has often run out of room. Expect the adaptation-at-limit codes nearby, and read the pair together: they are one story told by two witnesses.
