Judder when pulling away
A shudder or bucking as the vehicle moves off from rest, easing once under way. Characteristic of a dual-clutch transmission whose clutch is not taking up smoothly, where it is often the first sign of clutch wear or of adaptive values that have drifted — and on those gearboxes it is worth reporting early, because a relearn procedure sometimes resolves what looks like a mechanical failure. What this usually means
On a dual-clutch gearbox this is the characteristic early complaint, and it is worth reporting early because the fix is sometimes software. These transmissions continuously learn where each clutch begins to grip, and the learned value is only correct for the fluid and the wear it was learned against. When it drifts, the clutch closes fractionally too early or too late, and the take-up that should be seamless becomes a shudder.
German workshop references divide the causes into three, and the ordering matters. Adaptation drift comes first, because a relearn costs nothing but time. Mechatronics second — worn pressure accumulators, leaking valves or sensor faults giving imprecise clamping.
