Seat Control Switch Module
The switch panel that tells a powered seat what the occupant has asked for — a different part from the seat control module that actually drives the motors, and the distinction is worth money.
The owner can separate them without any equipment. If a memory position button still moves the seat, or it repositions itself when the vehicle recognises a key, then the seat, its motors and its module are all proven good and only the switches have failed — a far smaller job. If nothing moves the seat at all, the seat's own module is the likelier fault.
Physically it is in the most exposed position of anything on the seat: facing outward at shin height beside the door aperture. It gets kicked getting in and out, catches bags and seatbelts dragged past, and takes rain straight off a coat or umbrella when the door is open in bad weather. Water into the switches and mechanical damage from the door aperture are the leading findings, ahead of anything electronic.
