Mahindra Bolero Neo

Not a Bolero. The Bolero Neo is the TUV300 renamed in 2021, and it is a different vehicle from the Bolero it now shares a name with — a different platform, a different engine and a different body, sold beside its namesake for years. A parts list or a code list for one will point at systems the other does not have, and the badge is the only thing that has changed.

Its engine is the 1.5 mHawk100, and the number of cylinders is the fact worth carrying: it is a three-cylinder, where the 1.5 in the Marazzo and the XUV300 is a four of almost identical capacity. Two engines of the same nominal size with different cylinder counts is exactly the confusion that sends a parts order to the wrong shelf, and neither the badge nor the displacement separates them.

Rear-wheel drive with a ladder frame puts it closer to the Scorpio than to anything front-driven, and the two-stage turbocharger fitted to the mHawk100 is the recurring item — sticking vanes present as a boost-control code, not as a noise.

The same vehicle renamed, and sold alongside the unrelated Bolero — the one case in this range where a name change hides no engineering change at all. The stretched nine-seat Neo Plus beside it is the exception, and it carries a different engine.
