If the things that have stopped working are in a door — window, mirror, lock, speaker — do this before anything else, because it costs nothing.
Open and close the door slowly and watch whether the fault changes. If it does, the problem is a broken wire inside the rubber concertina between the door and the body. That piece of wiring is flexed every time you open the door, over tens of thousands of times, and eventually breaks inside insulation that still looks perfect from outside. It is a repair to a few centimetres of wire rather than a new module, and telling the garage what you noticed points them straight at it.
The other common cause is water. Door drain holes block with grit and leaves, the door fills up instead of draining, and the electronics inside sit in it. A sloshing noise from a door, or a damp footwell on that side, is a real clue — say so.
Otherwise, as at U0141: ask for the fuses and relays nearest the dead area to be checked before anything is bought.

Where the zone in question is a door, one cause outranks everything else, and it is the argument the whole U02xx block turns on.
The wiring between the body and a door passes through a flexible rubber boot, and that boot is flexed every single time the door is opened — tens of thousands of times across the vehicle's life. Copper work-hardens and eventually breaks inside insulation that still looks perfect, so nothing is visible from outside and a continuity test passes or fails depending on where the door happens to be.
Which gives the free check nobody thinks to try: does the fault change as the door is moved? A code that comes and goes, or a set of door functions that work with the door at one angle and not another, is a broken conductor in the boot rather than a failed module — and it is a repair to a few centimetres of wire.
The second cause arrives the same way in every vehicle. A door's drain holes clog with road grit and leaf debris; the door fills instead of draining; the module and its connectors sit in the water. A sloshing noise from a door, or a damp footwell on that side, is worth mentioning before anything is ordered.
