Driveable in most cases. On a hybrid, mention any warning about the high-voltage system or reduced performance — a third fan may be cooling the battery rather than the engine.
What this code means
A control-circuit fault on a third cooling fan. Three-fan arrangements appear on larger engines, vehicles with substantial cooling demands, and some hybrids where battery and inverter cooling are staged separately from the engine.
Diagnosis follows the other fan circuits: relay, fuse, wiring, then motor. Establishing what this particular fan is actually cooling matters first, because on a hybrid it may not be the engine at all.
