P0692: Cooling Fan 1 Control Circuit High
What to do
Watch the temperature gauge, especially in traffic. The car will seem fine at speed and can overheat within minutes of stopping. If the gauge climbs, keep moving if it is safe or pull over and let it cool — overheating damages head gaskets and cylinder heads, and that repair costs many times this one.
What this code means
The primary cooling fan control circuit is reading high — an open, or a relay coil that has failed open. The fan does not run, which removes the engine's only cooling in stationary traffic.
The deceptive part is that the vehicle behaves perfectly at speed, where airflow through the radiator does the fan's job. The overheating begins minutes after stopping.
