P0776: Pressure Control Solenoid B Performance or Stuck Off
What to do
If a particular gear change slips — revs rising before the gear takes up — have it attended to rather than driven around. Slip on one clutch damages that clutch just as surely as a general pressure fault damages all of them.
What this code means
Pressure control solenoid B is not delivering the pressure commanded, so the clutch it meters is applied with too little force and slips as it takes up. Because this solenoid governs a subset of shifts rather than all of them, the slipping is usually confined to particular changes — which makes it milder than the equivalent fault on solenoid A, and correspondingly easier to live with for too long.
Slip is slip, though. A clutch applied with insufficient pressure glazes and wears whether the fault is general or specific, so a consistently slipping single shift deserves the same urgency as a general one.
