P0D28: Battery Charger Input Voltage Too High
What to do
The car will refuse to charge, and that is the right behaviour. Do not try to force it with a different adapter. If you are using a generator or a non-standard supply, that is almost certainly the cause; a regular charge point will settle it either way.
What this code means
The alternating-current supply arriving at the on-board charger is above its upper limit.
This is the rarer direction and it has a much shorter list of causes, because mains supplies are regulated and rarely run high on their own.
What does produce it: a generator, which many people reach for when charging away from a supply and which regulates far less tightly than a grid connection, especially under a changing load. A supply the car was not expecting — plugging a vehicle configured for a 120-volt region into a 240-volt outlet through an adapter. Or a fault in the charge point itself, which is why the cable and the box are worth suspecting before the car.
The car refuses to charge rather than accept it, which is correct: an input over-voltage is one of the few things that can damage a charger outright rather than merely stop it working.
