P2006: Intake Manifold Runner Control Stuck Closed — Bank 1
What to do
Expect the engine to feel strangled at higher revs while pulling reasonably from low speed. Same underlying cause as the stuck-open version — carbon on the flaps — and the same reason to fix it rather than live with it.
What this code means
The manifold flaps are stuck closed on bank 1 — the more restrictive of the two failures, and the more noticeable.
With the flaps held shut the engine keeps its low-speed characteristics and loses its ability to breathe at higher revs, so the complaint is an engine that pulls acceptably from low down and then simply stops making progress: a hard ceiling on power rather than a flat spot. Owners often describe it as the car feeling as though something is holding it back, which is exactly right.
The cause is the same carbon accumulation that produces P2004, and the same warning applies about a seized flap eventually breaking free.
