P2667: Fuel Shutoff Valve B Control Circuit High

What to do

You will keep running on the other fuel. Nothing is leaking — the valve closes when it loses power, by design.

If anything has recently been done under the back of the vehicle or in the boot, say so straight away — the spare wheel out, the boot floor lifted, exhaust or tank work, underbody sealing, bodywork. A gas system is usually fitted after the car was built, so its wiring runs alongside the original loom and is the first thing to get unplugged for access and left off. That check is free and is often the whole answer.

Take it to an installer qualified on gas systems.

What this code means

The second fuel shutoff valve's control circuit reads above its valid range — an open circuit, a disconnected connector, or a short to supply.

The valve's function and its fail-closed behaviour are described at P2665.

The cause worth eliminating first costs nothing, and it is specific to how these systems are installed. A bi-fuel conversion is very often fitted after the vehicle was built, by a specialist, using looms routed alongside the original ones and connectors added where there were none. That makes its wiring the part of the vehicle most likely to be disturbed by unrelated work — a spare wheel taken out, a boot floor lifted, an exhaust or fuel tank dropped, underbody sealing applied, or bodywork repaired.

A code from this family appearing after any work under or in the back of the vehicle is a disconnected plug until shown otherwise.

The vehicle runs on its other fuel meanwhile.

Information, not instruction

CarGeek is a reference, not a service manual. Its pages are written from public sources and from what other people have found, never from a manufacturer's own service information, so they can be wrong or incomplete for your particular vehicle. Some of what they describe carries real risk: high voltage, fuel under pressure, stored energy, hot and moving parts.

Have anything you intend to act on checked by a trained person against the manufacturer's own procedure for your vehicle. Nothing here replaces that procedure.

What makes one worth reading:

  • The car — make, model, year and engine. The same fault behaves differently on each.
  • What you measured, not only what you replaced.
  • What actually fixed it — or that nothing did, which is worth knowing too.
