P2684: Actuator Supply Voltage C Circuit/Open
What to do
Expect several warning lights and reduced power, because a whole group of parts lost its supply together.
The key point, as with the other supply rails: if you have been handed a list of faults naming several unrelated parts, do not authorise replacing them. They are reporting a shared power supply that has failed, and they are very probably fine.
Ask for the supply to be tested first — the relay feeding it, the module's earth connections, and the module's own connector pins. That last one matters on an engine like yours: a third supply rail means a lot of actuators and a very crowded connector, so a terminal that has worked loose in its housing is a realistic cause and leaves nothing visible on the outside of the loom.
What this code means
An open circuit on the third of the module's actuator supply rails. Rail A is at P0657–P0659 and rail B at P2669–P2671.
Everything about what a supply rail is, and why its failure produces a list of codes naming healthy unrelated parts, is at P2669 and should be read there. The short version bears repeating because it is the whole diagnostic point: the module groups actuators onto shared rails for electrical reasons, so the parts on one rail have nothing mechanically in common — and when the rail fails they all report faults at once. Do not replace the parts the other codes name.
What a third rail tells you is that this is a densely equipped engine, and that is worth knowing before opening anything. Rails get added because the actuator count and current budget demanded it — variable valve timing, multiple exhaust gas recirculation valves, active thermal management, turbocharger actuators, a fuel system with several solenoids. A vehicle with a rail C therefore has a crowded loom and a module with a lot of connector pins, and pin-level faults become correspondingly more likely relative to whole-harness ones.
That shifts the first check slightly compared with rail A. The module's own connectors deserve inspection early: a terminal that has backed out of its housing, lost tension, or been disturbed during previous work will take out a rail as effectively as a broken wire, and it leaves no visible damage anywhere along the loom.
Otherwise the causes are the same family: the relay feeding the rail, the module's grounds, and the supply wiring between them, with the module itself last rather than first.
