The car drives normally; expect that window to lose one-touch and move only while held. See U0222 — if this followed a battery change or a flat battery, re-initialising the window usually fixes it outright and costs nothing.

You have a useful test available to you: compare the two front windows. If both behave the same way, it is very likely a shared cause like power loss rather than two failed motors. If only one misbehaves, the problem is in that door. And listen to them — a window that labours and groans where the other runs freely is telling you the mechanism is stiff, not that the motor has failed electronically.

A window that is rarely used gets stiff. Channels dry out and seals grip, and the first operation after months can be stiff enough to trip the trap protection on a mechanism that is only neglected. Running the windows up and down occasionally, and a dry silicone spray on the channels, is worth doing.

What this code means

The second door window motor has stopped being heard from. The anti-trap explanation and the re-initialisation fix — which resolves a large share of these — are both at U0222.

What is worth adding here is the diagnostic advantage of having a second window: it is a reference. Two motors of the same age, in the same vehicle, doing the same job, allow a comparison no single-window fault does.

  • If both windows behave identically — both losing one-touch, both inching — the fault is shared, which usually means power loss and re-initialisation rather than two failed motors.
  • If only one is affected, the fault is local to that door, and the door harness boot at U0200 becomes the first suspect.
  • Listening to the two run is a genuine test. A motor labouring where its counterpart runs freely is reporting a mechanical problem in its own regulator or channel, exactly as described at U0222 — and that comparison is available to the owner without any equipment.

One thing specific to the passenger side is worth mentioning: the passenger window is used far less than the driver's. A window that spends months closed lets its channels dry out and its seals grip, so the first operation after a long gap is unusually stiff — enough, occasionally, to trip the anti-trap protection on a mechanism that is merely neglected rather than failing. Exercising the windows occasionally is genuine preventive maintenance, and a dry silicone lubricant on the channels is the standard remedy.
