P0234: Turbocharger/Supercharger A Overboost Condition
Do not keep driving
Expect a limp mode, often after a burst of unusually strong acceleration. Avoid full-throttle use until it is repaired — the fault removes the engine's protection against its own boost.
What this code means
Boost pressure has exceeded the commanded limit. The module treats this seriously because sustained overboost raises cylinder pressures beyond what the engine was designed for, and detonation under boost damages pistons quickly. The usual mechanism is a wastegate that cannot open — seized linkage, a failed actuator, or a control solenoid that has stopped bleeding pressure — so the turbocharger keeps making boost the engine cannot use. Aftermarket tuning that raises the target without raising the limit produces the same code legitimately.
