P0901: Clutch A Actuator Control Circuit Range/Performance

What to do

Take-up may be inconsistent. Ask whether the actuator's current draw was compared against specification — a motor working harder than it should is measurable, and it usually means something mechanical is stiffening rather than the electronics failing.

What this code means

The clutch actuator circuit is electrically present but not behaving as expected — current draw outside the normal window, or a response to command that does not match what the module drives.

Current draw is the useful measurement here and it is worth asking about. An actuator working against increasing mechanical resistance draws more current to achieve the same movement, so a rising current trend is a direct measurement of something getting stiffer: a worn actuator, a dry release bearing, or a clutch whose travel has increased as it wears. That trend is visible in recorded data well before it is felt from the driver's seat — and on this kind of gearbox there is no clutch pedal to feel it through, so the data is the only warning available.
